Soraya and Sofia Nepomuceno
Soraya came from Brazil to Timor Leste in 1998, pre-independance and worked with street kids in Santa Cruz. Soraya started Kids Ark in Hera, 2003. She is the Director and oversees education.
Sofia was adopted by Soraya after her mother died in child birth.

Branca Lopes and Ana Paula
Branca has been in Timor Leste since her first visit in 2002. Branca is a trained nurse from Brazil and has spent many years helping the poor in her own country. Branca oversees the medical work and aids the locals in community development projects.
Branca has an adopted daughter Ana Paula and is also guardian to a young teenager, Honoria.
Physical address
We live on the main road through the village of Hera. Hera is about 40 minutes out of Dili, travelling east towards Baucau, and Los Palos.
Our home and office is near the police station - ask anyone about and they will know us by name.
You can travel from Dili through Becora or on the coast road near Cristo Rei. The roads are sealed but watch the potholes and animals on the road.

Kids Ark is a non-profit registered NGO that has been established in Timor Leste since 2003.

All workers are volunteers. Kids Ark directors are Soraya Nepomuceno (education) and Branca Lopes (medical and community development) are assisted by full and part-time volunteers working with Kids Ark on projects. All volunteers are self-supporting.
The work is financially supported by donors from many countries.
Constitutionally, Kids Ark is under the umbrella of Australia Mercy which is an arm of Youth With A Mission Australia. Australia Mercy is a registered Australian Charity and trains people to work with the poor.
Australia Mercy is a member of the Australian Council For Overseas Aid (ACFOA) and is a signatory to the ACFID Code Of Conduct. Australia Mercy (previously known as ARMS, is also a member of the Co-Aid a consortium of Australian aid agencies serving the poor and needy.
